AUSTIN, ROBERT

Robert Austin, doctor en teología puritano, publicó en 1644 un tratado titulado Allegiance not impeached, viz. by the Parliament's taking up of Arms (though against the King's Personall Commands) for the just Defence of the Kings Person, Crown, and Dignity, the Laws of the Land, Liberties of the Subject. En una 'advertencia al lector', el autor protesta que había perdido mucho por aliarse con el parlamento, que había actuado únicamente por motivos de patriotismo en la publicación de sus puntos de vista al mundo y que esperaba ansioso el momento en que el rey 'volviera seguro y su trono se estableciera en juicio y justicia.' En 1647 Austin publicó The Parliaments Rules and Directions concerning Sacramental Knowledge drawn into Questions and Answers, de ocho páginas.
