BARRET, JOHN (1631-1713)

John Barret, teólogo no conformista inglés, nació en 1631 y murió en Nottingham el 30 de octubre de 1713. Fue educado en Emmanuel College, Cambridge, donde obtuvo la maestría. Después se convirtió en teólogo presbiteriano y ministro de la iglesia de St. Peter en Nottingham (1656), pero fue expulsado de su beneficio en la Restauración por negarse a leer el Libro de Oración Común (1662). Luego 'mantuvo conventículos en aquellas partes'. Su sermón fúnebre lo predicó su colega, el reverendo John Whitlock, jun. Tuvo un hijo, Joseph, cuyo Remains se imprimió en 1700. Palmer (Nonconformists' Memorial, iii. 105) dice que también escribió dos tratados en defensa de la no conformidad contra Stillingfleet.
