BECHER, HENRY

Henry Becher, traductor inglés, fue vicario de Mayfield, en la jurisdicción de South Mailing. Tradujo al inglés y adornó con un largo prefacio contra los difuntos pelagianos, es decir, Henry Hart y otros en Kent, Essex, Londres y otros lugares, los dos libros de Ambrosio De Vocatione Gentium. En el prefacio hay muchas cosas concernientes a esta herejía que infestó no pocas provincias en Inglaterra en los tiempos de Enrique VIII y la reina María. El título completo de su traducción es: Two Books of Saint Ambrose, Bysshoppe of Mytleyne, entituled Of the Vocation and Calling of all Nations: newly translated out of Latin into Englyshe, for the edifying and comfort of the single-mynded and godly, unlearned in Christes Church, agaynst the late stronge secte of the Pelagians, the maynteyners of the free v, yll of men, and denyers of the grace of God, Londres, 1561.
