BERTRAM, ROBERT AITKIN (1836-1886)

Robert Aitkin Bertram, congregacional inglés, nació en Henley, a 235 kilómetros al noroeste de Londres, el 8 de noviembre de 1836 y murió en Londres el 14 de noviembre de 1886. Acabó sus estudios en Owens College (Victoria University), Manchester, 1858; fue pastor en Lymm, Cheshire, en Openshaw (Manchester) y en Barnstaple, Devonshire; editó Christian Age, 1880–83. Compiló The Cavendish Hymnal (Manchester, 1864) y publicó Parable or Divine Poesy, Illustrations in Theology and Morals Selected from Great Divines and Systematically Arranged (Londres, 1866); A Dictionary of Poetical Illustrations (1877); A Homiletical Encyclopedia of Illustrations in Theology and Morals, a Handbook of Practical Divinity and a Commentary on Holy Scripture (1878); A Homiletical Commentary on the Prophecies of Isaiah (i, 1884; ii, juntamente con Alfred Tucker, 1888).
