BOYD, ANDREW KENNEDY HUTCHINSON (1825-1899)

Andrew Kennedy Hutchinson Boyd, Iglesia de Escocia, nació en Auchinleck, a 45 kilómetros al sur de Glasgow, Ayrshire, el 3 de noviembre de 1825 y murió en Bournemouth, Hampshire, Inglaterra, el 1 de marzo de 1899.

Estudió en King's College y Middle Temple, Londres, y en la universidad de Glasgow (licenciatura en humanidades, Glasgow, 1846); fue ordenado ministro de Newton-on-Ayr 1851; ministro de Kirkpatrick-Irongray, cerca de Dumfries, 1854–59; de St. Bernard, Edimburgo, 1859-65; ministro principal de la ciudad de St. Andrews desde 1865. Obtuvo distinción como clérigo y como escritor (con la firma A. K. H. B. y el sobrenombre "The Country Parson"), siendo tal vez el ministro más ampliamente conocido de la Iglesia escocesa. En 1866 fue nombrado presidente de un comité para preparar una nueva colección de himnos, desempeñando el cargo con mucho juicio y tacto. Fue moderador de la Asamblea General en 1890.
