CALVER, EDWARD

Edward Calver, poeta puritano inglés, era de Wilbie, en el condado de Suffolk. Se dice que era pariente de Bernard Calver, o Calvert, de Andover, que pasó de Southwark a Calais el 17 de julio de 1620 y de vuelta el mismo día.

Sus obras son: Passion and Discretion, in Youth and Age, Londres, 1641; la obra está dividido en dos libros, el segundo de los cuales está precedido por una epístola en prosa a su amigo y pariente, John Strut. Está escrita en un estilo sencillo y serio, abundando en reflexiones morales y piadosas sobre las pasiones, expresadas en lenguaje accesible y prosaico. La copia en la biblioteca de Grenville tiene cuatro grabados, por Stent, que raramente se encuentran.
