CONE, ORELLO (1835-1905)

Orello Cone nació en Lincklaen, Nueva York, el 16 de noviembre de 1835 y murió en Canton, Nueva York, el 23 de junio de 1905.

Fue educado en Cazenovia Seminary, Cazenovia, Nueva York, y tras enseñar en la escuela pública durante varios años fue instructor en St. Paul College, Palmyra, Missouri (1858-61). Fue pastor de la iglesia universalista en Little Falls, Nueva York, 1863-65; profesor de lenguas y literatura bíblica en St. Lawrence University, Canton, Nueva York, 1865-80; presidente de Buchtel College, Akron, Ohio, 1880-96; residió en Boston y Berlin, 1896-98; profesor de St. Lawrence Universitiy desde 1899 hasta su muerte. Escribió Gospel Criticism and Historical Christianity (Nueva York, 1891); The Gospel and Its Earliest Interpretations (1893); Paul, the Man, the Missionary, and the Teacher (1898) y Rich and Poor in the New Testament (1902). También editó International Handbooks to the New Testament al que contribuyó con Epistles to the Hebrews, Colossians, Ephesians, Philemon, the Pastoral Epistles, James, Peter y Jude (1901).
