CONYBEARE, FREDERICK CORNWALLIS (1856-1924)

Frederick Cornwallis Conybeare nació en Kew, Inglaterra, el 14 de septiembre de 1856 y murió el 9 de enero de 1924.

Fue educado en University College, Oxford (máster en humanidades, 1883), donde fue miembro del consejo rector y catedrático en 1881. Destacó particularmente por sus logros en armenio y ser miembro de la Academia Armenia Veneciana. En 1903 fue elegido miembro del consejo rector de la British Academy. Sus escritos abarcan: A Collation with the Ancient Armenian Versions of the Greek Texts of Aristotle's Categories, etc. (Londres, 1892); The Apology and Acts of Apollonius and Other Monuments of Early Christianity (1894; 2ª edición, The Armenian Apology and Acts of Apollonius, 1896); Philo about the Contemplative Life, or, the Fourth Book of the Treatise Concerning Virtues (Oxford, 1895); The Key of Truth, a Manual of the Paulician Church of Armenia, the Armenian Text edited and translated (1898); The Story of Ahikar, from the Syriac, Arabic, Armenian, Ethiopic, Greek and Slavonic Versions (1898); The Dialogues of Athanasius and Zachæus and of Timothy and Aquila (1898); The Dreyfus Case (Londres, 1898); Roman Catholicism as a Factor in European Politics (1901); Rituale Armenorum (Oxford, 1905) y Old Armenian Texts of Revelation (1906).
