EDWARDS, JOHN (1714-1785)

John Edwards, ministro disidente inglés de Leeds, Yorkshire, nació en 1714 y murió en 1785. Publicó en 1758 A Vindication of the Protestant Doctrine of Justification and its Preachers and Professors from the unjust Charge of Antinomianism; extracted from a letter of the Rev. Mr. Robt. Trail, a minister in the city of London, to a minister in the country, siendo su propósito testificar de las doctrinas avanzadas por él en su ministerio público, que eran las mismas expuestas por Trail en esa carta. En 1762 apareció The Safe Retreat from impending Judgments, la sustancia de un sermón predicado por Edwards en Leeds, del que se publicó una segunda edición en 1773. Al final de su sermón está el anuncio sobre The Christian Indeed, otra obra del mismo autor. Edwards también editó A Collection of Hymns and Spiritual Songs for the use of Serious and devout Christians of all denominations.
