FLINT, TIMOTHY (1780-1840)

Timothy Flint, escritor norteamericano, nació en North Reading, Massachusetts, el 11 de julio de 1780 y murió en Salem, Massachusetts, el 16 de agosto de 1840. Fue pastor congregacional desde 1815 y antes había sido misionero en el valle del Mississippi. Dirigió las revistas Cincinnati Western y Knickerbocker Magazine y escribió novelas, relatos de viaje y obras científicas, siendo la mejor entre las primeras la titulada Francis Berrian (1826). Entre sus demás trabajos destacan: Recollections of Ten Years Passed in the Valley of the Mississippi (1836) y Lectures upon natural History, Geology, Chemistry, the application of the steam and interesting discoveries in the arts (Boston, 1832).
