JONES, JEREMIAH (1693-1724)

Jeremiah Jones nació en Gales en 1693 y murió allí en 1724. Era nieto de Samuel Jones (1628-1697). Entre sus colegas en la academia de su tío estuvieron Joseph Butler y Thomas Secker, posterior arzobispo de Canterbury. Tras servir en congregaciones independientes en Market Harborough, Leicestershire y Cold Ashby, Northamptonshire, fue pastor de la iglesia independiente en Nailsworth, en la parroquia de Avening, Gloucestershire, en 1719 y el mismo año se hizo cargo de los alumnos de su fallecido tío. Jones es recordado por su admirable New and Full Method of Settling the Canonical Authority of the New Testament (3 volúmenes, Londres, 1726-1727). También publicó A Vindication of the Former Part of St. Matthew's Gospel from Mr. Whivton's Charge of Dislocations (Londres, 1719).
