KILLEN, WILLIAM DOOL (1806-1902)

William Dool Killen nació en Ballymena, condado de Antrim, Irlanda, el 5 de abril de 1806 y murió en Belfast el 10 de enero de 1902.

Estudió en Belfast Academical Institution, siendo ordenado en 1829 ministro de Raphoe, condado de Donegal. Desde 1841 fue profesor de historia eclesiástica y teología pastoral y desde 1869 hasta su muerte fue presidente del Instituto presbiteriano, Belfast. En teología fue un evangélico liberal. Escribió: The Ancient Church (Londres, 1859); Memorial of John Edgar (Belfast, 1867); The Old Catholic Church from the Apostolic Age to A.D. 755 (Edimburgo, 1871); The Ecclesiastical History of Ireland from the Earliest Period to the Present Time (2 volúmenes, Londres, 1875); The Ignatian Letters Entirely Spurious (Edimburgo, 1886); The Framework of the Church: A Treatise on Church Government (1890) y Reminiscences of a Long Life (Londres, 1901); también continuó la obra de J. S. Reid, History of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland from 1783 (Belfast, 1853).
