LEA, HENRY CHARLES (1825-1909)

Henry Charles Lea nació en Filadelfia el 19 de septiembre de 1825 y murió allí el 24 de octubre de 1909.

Fue educado privadamente y en 1841 entró en la editorial de Lea y Blanchard, en su ciudad natal, siendo miembro de la firma en 1851 y teniendo el control total desde 1865 a 1880, cuando se retiró de la vida activa. Durante la Guerra civil fue miembro de la Union League y siempre retuvo el interés en la reforma municipal y civil.
