LEWIS, ABRAM HERBERT (1836-1908)

Abram Herbert Lewis nació en Scott, Nueva York, el 17 de noviembre de 1836 y murió en Watch Hill, R. L, el 4 de noviembre de 1908.

Estudió en Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin, Milton College, Milton, Wisconsin (licenciatura en humanidades, 1861), Alfred University, Alfred Centre, Nueva York (máster en humanidades, 1863), Alfred Theological Seminary (graduado en 1863) y Union Theological Seminary (1870-71). Fue pastor en Westerly, Rhode Island, 1864-67 y Nueva York en 1867-69; agente general de American Sabbath Tract Society 1869-73; pastor en Shiloh, New Jersey, 1873-76; profesor de historia eclesiástica y homilética en Alfred University 1876-1880; pastor en Plainfield, New Jersey, 1880-96. Desde 1896 hasta su muerte fue secretario de la American Sabbath Tract Society y editor de The Sabbath Recorder. Fue editor de The Outlook and Sabbath Quarterly 1882-94 y editor de The Philanthropist. En teología fue un adherente ortodoxo liberal de las ideas bautistas sobre el séptimo día.
