MAGEE, WILLIAM CONNOR (1821-1891)

William Connor Magee, arzobispo de York, nació en Cork el 17 de diciembre de 1821 y murió en Londres el 5 de mayo de 1891.

Era nieto de William Magee. Se graduó en Trinity College, Dublín (licenciatura en humanidades, 1842; máster en humanidades y graduado en teología, 1854; doctor en teología, 1860). Fue coadjutor de St. Thomas, Dublín, en 1844; de St. Saviour, Bath, en 1848; ministro de Octagon Chapel, Bath, en 1848; coadjutor perpetuo de Quebec Chapel en 1859; rector de Enniskillen en 1860; deán de Cork en 1864; deán de Chapel Royal, Dublín, en 1866; obispo de Peterborough en 1868 y arzobispo de York en 1891. Fue conferenciante Donellan en Dublín en 1865-66. Fue autor de Sermons Delivered at St. Saviour's Church, Bath (Bath, 1852); Sermons at the Octagon Chapel, Bath (Bath, 1854); The Gospel and the Age (Londres, 1884); The Atonement (1887); Growth in Grace (1891); Christ the Light of all Scripture (1892) y Speeches and Addresses (1892).
