MAHAN, ASA (1800-1889)

Asa Mahan, educador congregacional americano, nació en Vernon, Nueva York, el 9 de noviembre de 1800 y murió en Eastbourne, a 104 kilómetros al sur de Londres, Inglaterra, el 4 de abril de 1889.

Se graduó en Hamilton College, Clinton, Nueva York, en 1824 y en Andover Theological Seminary 1827. Fue pastor en Pittsford, Nueva York (1829-31); Cincinnati, Ohio (1831-35); Jackson, Michigan (1855-57) y Adrian, Michigan (1857-60). Fue presidente de Oberlin College (1835-50), Cleveland University (1850-54) y Adrian College, Michigan (1860-71). En 1871 se retiró a Eastbourne, Inglaterra, para dedicarse a la obra literaria.
