William Orme, congregacional escocés, nació en Falkirk, a 40 kilómetros al noroeste de Edimburgo, el 3 de febrero de 1787 y murió en Londres (¿?) el 8 de mayo de 1830.
William OrmeComenzó el estudio de la teología en 1805, siendo ministro congregacional de Perth en 1807; se trasladó a Londres y fue nombrado pastor en Camberwell Green y secretario de la London Missionary Society. Escribió An Historical Sketch of the Translation and Circulation of the Scriptures from the Earliest Period to the Present Time (Perth, 1815); Memoirs of John Owen (Londres, 1820); Life of William Kiffin (1823); Memoirs... Letters, and... Remains of J. Urquhart (2 volúmenes, 1827); Life of Richard Baxter, prefixed to his Works (1830) y especialmente, Bibliotheca Biblica: A Select List of Books on Sacred Literature, with Notices, Biographical, Critical, and Bibliographical (Edimburgo, 1824).
