PAINE, TIMOTHY OTIS (1824-1895)

Timothy Otis Paine, teólogo americano, nació en Winslow, Maine, el 13 de octubre de 1824 y murió en Boston el 6 de diciembre de 1895. Se graduó en Waterville College en 1847. Tras 1856 fue pastor de la Iglesia swedenborgiana en Elmwood, Massachusetts, y en 1896 era profesor de hebreo en la escuela teológica de la convención general de la Iglesia Nueva Jerusalén en Estados Unidos, localizada en Boston, Massachusetts. Se aplicó al estudio de la Biblia, con el fin de reproducir las formas o tipos alegóricos. Fue autor de Solomon's Temple, or the Tabernacle; The First Temple; House of the King, or House of the Forest of Lebanon; Idolatrous High Places; The City on the Mountain (Rev. xxi.); The Oblation of the Holy Portion; and The Last Temple (Boston, 1861) y Solomon's Temple and Capitol, Ark of the Flood and Tabernacle, or The Holy Houses of the Hebrew, Chaldee, Syriac, Samaritan, Septuagint, Coptic, and Itala Scriptures (Boston y Nueva York, 1885). Póstumamente se publicaron Selections from Poems (Nueva York, 1897).
