Ebenezer Porter nació en Cornwall, Connecticut, el 5 de octubre de 1772 y murió en Andover el 8 de abril de 1834.
Ebenezer PorterSe graduó en Dartmouth College en 1792; fue ordenado en 1796, siendo pastor en Washington, Connecticut; profesor Bartlett de homilética en el seminario teológico Andover, 1812-32 y presidente, 1827-34. Fue autor de Young Preacher's Manual (Boston, 1819); An Analysis of the Principles of Rhetorical Delivery (1827); Rhetorical Reader (Andover, 1831); Lectures on Homiletics, Preaching, and on Public Prayer (Andover, 1834) y Lectures on Eloquence and Style (Andover, 1836).
