RAWLINSON, GEORGE (1812-1902)

George Rawlinson nació en Chadlington, Oxfordshire, Inglaterra, el 23 de noviembre de 1812 y murió en Canterbury el 6 de octubre de 1902.

Estudió en Trinity College, Oxford (licenciatura en humanidades, 1838; máster en humanidades, Exeter College, 1841); fue ordenado diácono en 1841 y sacerdote en 1842; fue miembro del consejo rector de Exeter College, 1840–46; tutor, 1842-1846; sub-rector, 1844–45; coadjutor de Merton, Oxfordshire, 1846–47; moderador clásico en Oxford, 1852-54; examinador público, 1855–57, 1868–69, 1875–79; conferenciante Bampton, 1859; profesor Camden de historia antigua, Oxford, 1861-89; supervisor para el capítulo en convocación de Canterbury, 1873-1898; tras 1872 canónigo de Canterbury y tras 1888 rector de All Hallows, Lombard Street.
