ROMESTIN, AUGUST HENRY EUGENE DE (1830-1900)

August Henry Eugene de Romestin nació en París el 9 de mayo de 1830 y murió en Londres el 18 de mayo de 1900. Fue alumno de Winchester College, 1843-48; de St. John College, Oxford (licenciatura en humanidades, 1852; máster en humanidades, 1854); fue ordenado diácono en 1852 y sacerdote anglicano en 1854; fue coadjutor de Mells, Somerset, 1853-54; de St. Thomas Martyr, Oxford, 1854-55; capellán inglés en Friburgo-im-Breisgau, 1863-65 y en Baden-Baden, 1865-68; capellán de Woolland, Dorset, 1868-69; coadjutor perpetuo de Freeland, Oxford, 1874-85; deán rural de Woodstock, 1879-8; vicario de Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire, 1885; custodio de House of Mercy, Great Maplestead, Essex, 1885-91; rector de Tiptree, 1891-96 y vicario de Sledmere, 1896-1900. Su posición teológica fue la de E. B. Pusey. Fue autor o editor de Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, with Introduction, Translation, and Notes (Londres, 1884); Saint Augustine, On Instructing the Unlearned; Concerning Faith of Things Unseen; On the Advantages of Believing; The Encheiridion to Laurentius y Concerning Faith, Hope and Charity, latín e inglés (1885); The Five Lectures of Saint Cyril on the Mysteries (1887); An Inquiry into the Belief of the Church from the Beginning until Now as to the Limitation of Our Lord's Knowledge (1891) y Saint Ambrose in the Select Library of the Nicene and Post Nicene Fathers (1895).
