SCHAUFFLER, ADOLF FREDERICK (1845-1919)

Adolf Frederick Schauffler, presbiteriano, nació en Constantinopla, Turquía, el 7 de marzo de 1845 y murió en 1919. Era hermano de Albert Henry Schauffler e hijo de William Gottlieb Schauffler. Fue educado en Williams College (licenciatura en humanidades, 1867), Union Theological Seminary (1868-1869) y Andover Theological Seminary (1869-1871), siendo desde 1872 a 1887 pastor de Olivet Presbyterian Church, Nueva York. Desde 1887 fue superintendente y desde 1902 presidente de New York City Mission and Tract Society, siendo también presidente de New York State Sunday-school Association desde 1899 y secretario de International Sunday-school Lesson Commission desde 1902. En teología fue conservador.

Escribió Ways of Working (Boston, 1891); The Teacher, the Child, and the Book (1900); The Pastor as Leader of Sunday-school Forces (Nashville, 1903); Sparks from a Superintendent's Anvil; practical Helper for every Sunday-school Worker (1909) y Knowing and Teaching the Scholar (1910).
