TAYLOR, WILLIAM MACKERGO (1829-1895)

William Mackergo Taylor, congregacional, nació en Kilmarnock, a 32 kilómetros al sudoeste de Glasgow, Escocia, el 23 de octubre de 1829 y murió en Nueva York el 8 de febrero de 1895.

Se graduó en la universidad de Glasgow, 1849, y en el Seminario Teológico Presbiteriano Unido, Edimburgo, 1852; fue pastor de la parroquia de Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, 1853; de Derby Road Church, Liverpool, Inglaterra, 1855; visitó Estados Unidos en 1871 y fue pastor de Broadway Tabernacle (congregational), Nueva York, 1872. Fue conferenciante Lyman Beecher en el seminario Yale, 1876 y 1886; conferenciante L. P. Stone en el seminario Princeton, 1888 y editor de The Christian at Work, 1876-80. Fue un predicador de primera línea y disfrutó de reputación internacional. En 1893 se vio obligado a retirarse por un ataque de parálisis.
