Charles Lemuel Thompson, presbiteriano americano, nació en Allentown, Pensilvania, el 18 de agosto de 1839 y murió en 1924.

Fue educado en Carroll College, Wisconsin (graduación, 1858), el Seminario Teológico de Princeton (1858-60) y el Seminario Teológico McCormick, Chicago (1860-1861). Ocupó puestos pastorales en su denominación en Juneau, Wisconsin, (1861-62), Janesville, Wisconsin (1862-67), First Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, Ohio (1867-72), Fifth Presbyterian Church, Chicago (1872-78), Third Presbyterian Church, Pittsburg, Pensilvania (1878-1882), Second Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, Missouri (1882-88), y Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, Nueva York (1888-98). Desde 1898 fue secretario de la Junta Presbiteriana de Misiones Domésticas. Fue editor de The Interior (Chicago) en 1877-79 y escribió: Times of Refreshing: A History of American Revivals (Chicago, 1877); Etchings in Verse (Nueva York, 1890) y The Presbyterians (1903).
