TOWNSEND, LUTHER TRACY (1838-1922)

Luther Tracy Townsend, episcopal metodista americano, nació en Orono, Maine, el 27 de septiembre de 1838 y murió en 1922.

Pasó sus primeros años en New Hampshire; estudió en New Hampshire Conference Seminary; se graduó de Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, 1859; del Seminario Teológico de Andover, Massachusetts, 1862; sirvió como soldado raso y ayudante del decimosexto regimiento de New Hampshire, 1862-63; ingresó al ministerio episcopal metodista en 1864; fue profesor de hebreo, caldeo y griego del Nuevo Testamento en la universidad de Boston, 1868-70; de teología histórica, 1872; de teología práctica y retórica sagrada, 1872-93; y luego profesor emérito.
