TYERMAN, LUKE (1820-1889)

Luke Tyerman, metodista inglés, nació en Osmotherley, Yorkshire, el 26 de febrero de 1820 y murió en Londres el 21 de marzo de 1889. Fue educado en la institución metodista Didsbury, 1842-45, dedicándose al ministerio. Su importancia procede de sus obras históricas, que tratan del origen del metodismo, como Life and Times of Rev. Samuel Wedey (Londres, 1866); Life and Times of Rev. John Wesley (3 volúmenes, 1870-71); The Oxford Methodist (1873); Life of Rev. George Whitefield (2 volúmenes, 1876); Wesley's Designated Successor: the Life, Letters, and Literary Labours of Rev. John W. Fletcher, Vicar of Madeley (1882).
