WACE, HENRY (1836-1924)

Henry Wace, anglicano, nació en Londres el 10 de diciembre de 1836 y murió en Canterbury el 9 de enero de 1924.

Fue educado en Brasenose College, Oxford (graduado en 1860); fue ordenado diácono (1861) y sacerdote (1862); fue coadjutor de St. Luke, Berwick Street, Londres (1861-63), y de St. James, Westminster (1863-69), y conferenciante de Grosvenor Chapel (1870-72); capellán (1872-80) y predicador (1880-96) de Lincoln's Inn, Londres; rector de St. Michael, Comhill (1896-1903), y desde 1903 deán de Canterbury. Fue conferenciante Boyle (1874-75), profesor de historia eclesiástica en King College de Londres (1875-83) y director de la misma institución (1883-96); predicador selecto en Cambridge en 1878, 1890 y 1901, y en Oxford en 1880-82, conferenciante Bampton en Oxford en 1879, capellán examinador del arzobispo de Canterbury en 1883-1903, capellán honorario de la reina en 1884-89, y capellán ordinario en 1889-1901, y capellán honorario del rey en 1901-03, prebendario de Consumpta-per-Mare en la catedral de San Pablo en 1881-1903, deán rural de East City en 1900-03, y deán de Canterbury desde 1903.
