Ralph Wardlaw, congregacional escocés, nació en Dalkeith, a 10 kilómetros al sudeste de Edimburgo, el 22 de diciembre de 1779 y murió en Easter-house, cerca de Glasgow, el 17 de diciembre de 1853.
Ralph WardlawFue educado en la escuela en Glasgow, matriculándose en la universidad en 1791; ingresó en la escuela teológica en relación con la Associate Secession Church, comenzando sus estudios en Selkirk en 1795; se hizo congregacional en 1800, uniéndose a la iglesia independiente en Glasgow; fue pastor de la capilla North Albian Street de Glasgow, 1803, construéndose una más grande en West George Street en 1819, donde Wardlaw continuó predicando hasta su muerte. Desde 1811 fue profesor durante muchos años de teología sistemática en Glasgow Theological Seminary. Destacó en Escocia como predicador, pero sus escritos teológicos le dieron a conocer aún más; abarcan, además de sus sermones y clases sobre la Biblia, Discourses on the Nature and the Extent of the Atonement of Christ (Glasgow, 1830); Christian Ethics, in the Conffregational Lecture (Londres, 1834); National Church Establishment Examinedición..
