WEBB, ALLAN BECHER (1839-1907)

Allan Becher Webb, anglicano, nació en Calcuta el 6 de octubre de 1839 y murió en Salisbury, Inglaterra, el 12 de junio de 1907.

Fue educado en Corpus Christi College, Oxford (licenciatura en humanidades, 1862; miembro del consejo rector de University College, 1863-67); fue ordenado diácono en 1863 y sacerdote en la Iglesia anglicana en 1864; fue coadjutor de St. Peter's-in-the-East, Oxford (1863-64); vice-director de Cuddeston (1864-67); rector de Avon Dassett, Warwickshire (1867-70); fue consagrado obispo de Bloemfontein (1870), siendo trasladado a la diócesis de Grahamstown (1883); fue obispo auxiliar de Moray y Brechin (1898-1900), preboste de la catedral de Inverness y desde 1901 deán de Salisbury. Escribió: Presence and Office of the Holy Spirit (Londres, 1881); Sisterhood Life and Woman's Work (1883); The Minister of the True Tabernacle: Thoughts and Suggestions for the Eve of Ordination (1888); The Priesthood of the Laity in the Body of Christ (1889); Life of Service before the Throne (1897); Unveiling of the Eternal Word (1898) y With Christ in Paradise (1898).
