Cortlandt Whitehead, obispoepiscopal protestante de Pittsburg, nació en Nueva York el 30 de octubre de 1842 y murió en Pittsburgh, Pensilvania, el 18 de septiembre de 1922.

Se graduó en Yale College (1863) y en Philadelphia Divinity School (1867); fue ordenadodiácono (1867) y sacerdote (1868); sirvió como misionero en Blackhawk, Central City y Georgetown (1867-1870); fue rector de la Iglesia de la Natividad en Bethlehem, Pensilvania (1870-82), y en 1882 fue consagrado obispo de Pittsburg. Editó Thoughts on the Services del obispo A. C. Coxe (Nueva York, 1899).
