Philip Henry Wicksteed, unitario inglés, nació en Leeds, Yorkshire, el 25 de octubre de 1844 y murió en Childrey, Berkshire, el 18 de marzo de 1927.

Fue educado en University College y en Manchester New College, Londres (licenciatura, universidad de Londres, 1884), y en 1867 ingresó al ministerio; ocupó cargos pastorales en Taunton (1867-70), Dukinfield, cerca de Manchester (1870-74) y Portland Street Chapel, Londres (1874-87). En 1897 se retiró del ministerio, pero desde 1887 fue profesor en el movimiento de Extensión Universitaria. Escribió: Dante (seis sermones; Londres, 1879); Alphabet of Economic Science, i. (1888); Hendrik Ibsen (conferencias; 1891); The Religion of Time and the Religion of Eternity (1899); Dante and Giovanni del Virgilio (en colaboración con E. G. Gardner; 1901); Studies in Theology (in collaboration with E. Carpenter, 1903); y The Common Sense of Political Economy (1910).
