WRIGHT, CHARLES HENRY HAMILTON (1836-1909)

Charles Henry Hamilton Wright, anglicano, nació en Dublín el 9 de marzo de 1836 y murió en Londres el 22 de marzo de 1909.

Fue educado en Trinity College, Dublín (licenciatura en humanidades, 1857; máster en humanidades, 1859), siendo ordenado diácono en 1859 y sacerdote al año siguiente. Fue coadjutor de Middleton-Tyas, Yorkshire, en 1859-63, capellán de la iglesia anglicana en Dresden en 1863-68, capellán de Holy Trinity, Boulougne-sur-Mer, en 1868-73, titular de St. Mary, Dublín, 1874-85, de Bethesda Church en la misma ciudad en 1885-91, y vicario de St. John, Liverpool, en 1891-98. Tras 1898 fue superintendente clerical de Protestant Reformation Society. Fue también conferenciante Bampton en Oxford en 1878, conferenciante Donellan en Trinity College, Dublín, en 1880-81, y conferenciante Grinfeld sobre la Septuaginta en Oxford en 1893-97, además de ser examinador en hebreo en diferentes tiempos en las universidades de Oxford, Londres, Manchester y Gales. En teología se definió a sí mismo como 'evangélico y conservador, pero dispuesto a adoptar opiniones basadas en la evidencia real y no en meras conjeturas o hipótesis de eruditos por más eminentes que fueran.'

J. Tomlinson; 1902); A Protestant Dictionary (editado en colaboración con C. Neil; 1904); The Book of Isaiah, and other Historical Essays (1905); Daniel and his Prophecies (1906); Daniel and its Critics (1906) y Light from Egyptian Papyri on Jewish Hist. before Christ (1908).
