DONNELLAN, CONFERENCIAS

Conferencias Donnellan (Donnelan) es el nombre de unas conferencias llamadas así por "Anne Donnelan, de la parroquia de St. George, Hanover Square, en el condado de Middlesex, Spinster" quien legó a la universidad de Dublín 1.243 libras "para estimular la religión, saber y buenas maneras, confiándose el modo particular de aplicación al preboste y decano del consejo rector." El conferenciante era escogido anualmente el 20 de noviembre entre los miembros del consejo rector, fecha en la que se determinaba el tema. Las conferencias en cada serie no eran menos de seis en número y la mitad del salario se pagaba al pronunciar las conferencias y el resto cuando al menos cuatro se publicaran. Durante varios años no se hicieron nombramientos, rehusando algunos candidatos la propuesta y no publicándose muchas de las conferencias.
