OBISPO, LIBRO DEL

Libro del Obispo es el nombre de una obra publicada en Londres en 1537, compilada por una comisión de obispos y clérigos ingleses de la que el título completo es The Institution of a Christian Man, containing the exposition or interpretation of the common creed, of the seven sacraments, of the x commandments and of the pater noster, and of the ave maria, justification, and purgatory. Refleja las condiciones del tiempo, manteniendo que la autoridad del papa es una institución humana, aunque sin negar que la iglesia de Roma sea parte de la Iglesia universal. Se reimprimió en Formularies of Faith Put Forth by Authority during the Reign of Henry VIII, editado por C. Lloyd, obispo de Oxford (Oxford, 1825). (Cf. C.
